Accessibility Statement

This site is partially conformant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. Partially conformant means most of the site meets the standard and some parts do not yet. Rather than claim a clean result, we list the gaps we know about below.

Accessibility is handled in the shared components this site is built from, so it applies consistently rather than page by page.

• A skip link is the first thing you reach with the keyboard on any page, so you can jump straight past the navigation to the main content.
• Every control can be operated by keyboard alone, and the focus indicator stays visible in both the light and dark themes.
• Pages use proper landmark regions and an ordered heading structure, so you can navigate by region or by heading.
• Every page declares its language, and language names in the switcher are marked individually so a screen reader pronounces them correctly.
• If your system asks for reduced motion, animation is switched off across the site — including the animated hero on the home page, which holds a still frame instead.
• Dialogs and menus keep focus inside them while open, close with Escape where that is appropriate, and announce their purpose.
• Buttons that show only an icon carry a text label for screen readers, and those labels are translated rather than left in English.
• Touch targets are at least 44 pixels on small screens.
• Form fields are linked to their labels, and a validation message is tied to the field it belongs to so it is read out when you reach it.

We would rather tell you where the site falls short than let you discover it. We are working on the following:

Brand red as small text on dark backgrounds

In dark mode the brand red used for a few small labels measures about 3.9:1 against the background, below the 4.5:1 that text size requires. Headings, body text and buttons are not affected.

Carousel position indicators

The dots showing your position in the product carousel are smaller than the recommended minimum target size, and are described to assistive technology using the wrong widget type. The arrow buttons next to them are full size and move through the same items.

Decorative animation on the home page

The animated product display on the home page is drawn on a canvas and has no text alternative. It is marked as decorative so screen readers skip it, and every product it shows is reachable from the catalogue.

Age and research-use confirmation

The confirmation shown on your first visit cannot be dismissed with the Escape key, because confirming is required before the catalogue can be shown. Both of its buttons are reachable and operable by keyboard.

Error summaries on forms

When a form is submitted with several problems, focus is not moved to the first one and no summary is shown at the top of the form. Each individual message is announced correctly when you reach its field.

Language on generic error pages

The fallback error page served outside a language section is announced as English regardless of the language you were browsing in.

This statement is based on a self-assessment carried out by our own team, combining a manual review of the site against WCAG 2.1 level AA with keyboard and browser testing. The site has not been independently audited, and we do not yet run automated accessibility checks as part of our build. Both are on our list.
